Visum, World of Trade und auch noch Berlin gesehen…

Vorab: es gibt doch wieder Klopapier! *grins*

Der heutig Tag, durchgeplannt bis aufs letzte, doch ganz oben stand, das Visum zu holen. Wir suchten die Adresse raus, lösten nach mehreren Stationen schwarzfahren ein ominöses Ticket und erreicht schließlich das scheinbar lang ersehnte Ziel, doch stellte sich herraus dass sich die ecuadorianische Botschaft nicht mehr dort befand und umgezogen war. Glücklicher Weise hatte der Kai die Zweitadresse und wir gurkten eine weitere halbe Stunde durch Berlin und erreichten mit großer Erleichterung schlussendlich die Botschaft. Mit völligem Erstaunen, dass doch nun vier Fernwehgeplagte ein Visum wollte, wurden wir empfangen und in die sehr wohnlich eingerichtet Botschaft hineingebeten, füllten die entsprechenden Unterlagen aus, hatten einen ‚Small Talk’ mit dem Pressesprecher und nach 1,5h waren wir bereits fertig und hielten voller Stolz unser Visum in den Händen. Im gleichen Zuge hatten wir natürlich unsere erste Einheit, die sich im nachhinein als langweilig herraus stellte, verpasst.

Am Nachmittag war eine interaktive Welthandessimulation „World of Trade“ angesetzt, die zu meinen persönlichen Favouriten des gesamten Seminars zählte. Die gesamte Gruppe wurden in Kleingruppen aufgeteilt, die zum einen Länder repräsentierten und zum andern Weltbank, Börsianer, Presse und UN. Die Länder bestanden aus einem Diplomaten, einem Businessmann und 3 Arbeitern. Zu Begin der Simulation bekamen die 6 Staaten unterschiedlichsten Entwicklungsstandes verschiedene Rohstoffe und Materialen. Es galt nun mit Hilfe von Handel, geschickter Spekulation und auch Korruption soviel Produkte wie möglich herrzustellen und den höchstmöglichen Profit bei ständig schwankenden Absatzpreisen und korrupter Presse und Börsianer zu erwirtschaften. Die Simulation war auf der einen Seite sehr wirklichkeitsnah und andererseits sehr interresant und hat voll Spaß gemacht. Ein weiteres Highligth erwartet uns morgen mit der zweiten Einheit die unter dem Motto ‚Experiment’ laufen wird und wie schon durchgesickter ist in ganz Berlin statt finden wird.

Langsam wird es auch Zeit hier mal ein Waschsalon aufzusuchen, da ich auf Grund der Hitze soviele dreckige Sachen habe. Und eines will ich vermeiden, mit einer Tasche dreckiger Sache nach Quito reisen. Aber am Freitag weren wir vorraussichtlich Zeit dafür habe.

Ausgelassene Bergfeststimmung auf dem Seminar…

…hab mich nun dazu durchgerungen doch auf deutsch zu bloggen, da es einfach viele leichter ist und vielleicht auch etwas verständlicher für euch !*hehe

Shit, was hör ich da grad, wir haben kein Klopapier, ich hoffe mal das stellt sich als Unwahrheit und Gerücht herraus, weil mit 60 Kerlen sich 5 Klos zu teilen ist sowieso nicht so toll. Die ersten fünf Tage sind erfolgreich überstanden, nach anfänglichen Annäherungsschwierigkeiten haben doch nun ein Großteil der Jungs zu ein ander gefunden und neue Freundschaften geknüpft. Freiwillige aus ganz Deutschland mit den unterschiedlichsten Zielen in der Welt sächseln, schwäbeln, berlinern und fränkeln hier was zusammen und doch entwickelt sich etwas wie eine riesige Familie. Der heutige Tag stand unter dem Motto: ‚Auseinandersetzung mit der deutschen Vergangeheit’, dazu besucheten wir das Arbeitslager Sachsenhausen. Weiterhin haben wir Ecuadorfahrer nun alle Unterlagen zusammen und gehen morgen nach dem Frühstück zum ecuadorianischen Konsulat und werden hoffentlich unser Visum erhalten. Der heutige Abend verlief abgesehen vom Kickerturnier vergleichsweise entspannt und nachdem beim Fussball aufm Flur Lampen zu Bruch ging wurde dies auch eingestellt und es ging in eine willdes Trommel, Gitarren und Gesangswirrwar über, in dem jeder sein Bestes gab.

Je mehr die Zeit in Deutschland der Neige zugeht, umso aufgeregter wird die gesamte Horde. Ich habe heute zum ersten mal eine Email aus meinem Projekt bekommen, vorraussichtlich werde ich in dem ökologischen Projekt auf 2800m mit einem Kerl aus Massachusetts zusammen arbeiten und vorraussichtlich auch in dem Projekt wohnen. Da mein Projekt nicht bis zum 1. September beginnt, werde ich bis dahin noch in einem Kinderheim für 0-5 jährige tätig sein und neben bei noch eine 30stündigen Sprackurs absolvieren. In dieser Zeit werde ich in einer Gastfamilie wohnen, wo ich aber noch überhaupt keine Angaben hab und ich das aber trotzdem sehr gern wissen würde.

End of the 4th day….an exciting day

Same procedure as every day, wake up at 8.30 in the a.m., have breakfast, checking the net and go for the first unit. We had a guy from Togo talking about is experiences as a person wanting to live in Germany. It was real authentic, because he was talking in his native language, French. Me, I had, five years of French, and thought that I wouldn’t understand a bit, but surprisingly with a bit of concentration I was able to figure out what he was talking about. It was super interesting with what kind of papershit he had to deal over 6 years until he got his permission to marry his german girlfriend. It was just so overwhelming, because nobody in Germany knows how difficult it is to get permission to live in Germany and how many offices you have to go through. My head was just busting due to the concentration the entire time, but I really really liked it, I thought it was the best unit so far.

The four of us going to Ecuador were still pretty upset about the visa we still didn’t have. But we called the embassy around midday and made an appointment for Wednesday and the lady assured us that we get the visa by the time we go to the embassy, but that we would need the complete papers, including and AIDS test yellow fever immunization but there were still a couple of papers left we still needed from Ecuador and which didn’t arrive yet but today, supposingly, they arrived. All of us were just relieved.

In the afternoon, we had a little reflection about discrimination and how to deal with it in our host countries. It was a bit boring, but it’s always like that in the afternoon, since it’s still super hot and it makes you tired like nothing comparable.

Now its like 9:30 and we are watching a movie, not as interesting as the one we watched last night. We watched ‘We fee the world’, while you are watching it you mouth just pops open and it stays like that the entire film. They bring up facts you would never believe or think . Just an amazing movie.

3rd Day in Berlin – And Its Still Hot

Its morning of my third daay in Berlin right now, still hot, still a lot of dudes and I am a lil tired, cuz we had a little freetime last night and a lot of guys went out to explore Berlin, but the four of us, which are going to ecuador stayed and talked to two teamers, which actually already went to Ecuador the past years. They showed picture, gave advice, showed on maps where they have been and all of us just got super excited and I think all of us are now really looking foreward to the next two weeks.

Yesterday we also had a unit, where all technical things had been mentioned and discussed, including insurance, vacation (26 days) and we finally got to sign our employees contract. There are still a couple of things left, in the first place our visa, which we couldn’t get yet, because the papers from FEVI, Ecuador did not arrive yet, some of us are not patient and want to have everything settled and planned before they leave, but I am pretty sure that you can’t plan everything and the local mentality kind of presumes spontanity.

Hi Guys!

Just found out about blogging and all that stuff, a lot of eople asked me to do it, so did I. I find myself in Berlin, Wedding right now in a 10 days long preperation seminar with around 70 like-minded people. Nobody actually likes it, but its part of the Program, so you gotta do what you gotta do! Its basically baised on lil games, which are supposed to prepare for upcoming situations and difficulties. The activities aim to improve teamwork, knowing oneself better and exchanging excpectations. The 70 youngsters, going to place all over the world, come from all parts of germany.

The facilities we are living in are like super hot and with 60 dudes and just 10 girls on one floor its sometimes a bit diffcult. Anyways, its about the second day today, and see what the rest of the day brings us.
